Let’s Get Salty!
How about 2020, what a year! Am I right? We were hoping 2021 would bring some 2019, but I think we are all seeing that isn’t going to be the case. I have been considering how to encapsulate what 2020 taught me into a tiny package. This morning I felt like I got what I was looking for, it’s so simple you won’t even have to sit down to get it. Be salt and light. Back when I taught high school history I remember a specific lesson where I taught my students about the spice trades of the east. We talked about foods without salt and how without spice our…

Have you been told you’re too much?
What I want to suggest is that whatever your adjective of "too much" is, this is the gift God has placed inside you for the benefit of the world. The world needs your "too much", but it is a gift that needs to be led by the Holy Spirit.

The Trustworthy Father
Trust wasn’t something I did well. Let’s be honest it’s not some thing I do well. I still struggle with trust. But there is one to whom trusting is easy. That is my King, my Abba, my Savior.

Can Satan Read My Mind?
There is no way to out think Satan. Although, we can go to war with him. We want to walk around him but that just isn't an option in this life. We are told to be bold and make a stand against the devil.

If it Hadn’t Been for the Lord
I recently read Psalm 124 and was drawn to the words and the style of this particular Psalm. It reminded me of a season in my life and the Lord had walked with me every step. The line “If it had not been for the Lord” is a worthy statement to consider and give some thought. What would your life or a season in your life look like without the Lord? Where would you be without heeding His direction? This is what David says of the Lord in Psalm 124: If it had not been the Lord who was on our side— let Israel now say—2 if it had not been the Lord who was on…

Leading Your Community to Conversations of Racial Injustice
My friend asked the questions: What would Jesus do in this time? How would Jesus respond to the marginalized? I couldn't help but remember Jesus MANY interactions with the marginalized and communities who were out casts. I can't help but think of how Jesus stepped into the uncomfortable spaces and led the way

Psalms on Slow-Mo
All throughout my life I have read a Psalm here or there. I have looked up Psalms to suit my mood or current life situation. But one thing I have never done was to go one by one through the Psalms. At the beginning of the year I decided to slow down and read through the Psalms from the beginning. My husband and I had prayer on our hearts in a big way and a felt that praying Scripture was missing. As we were beginning to make scripture prayer a routine we found ourselves in Psalms a lot. For my birthday an awesome friend gifted me some lovely new highlighters…
